T. Ray Purser has been actively involved in the cable TV industry for over 32 years, having held a number of senior level positions in advertising sales, public relations, government relations and community affairs.
Purser currently serves as Vice President of External Affairs for the Comcast Houston Region. Prior to this role, he served as Vice President of Public Affairs for Time Warner Cable’s Houston Division. Purser is responsible for all local government affairs activities as well as all company positioning, media relations, community activities, philanthropy and special VIP events.
Prior to his Public Affairs appointment with Time Warner Cable, Purser managed the advertising sales operations for Time Warner Cable’s Houston division. During this time, he served as Vice President, overseeing all aspects of the business.
Purser is a native Houstonian and graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1980. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Radio, Television and Film from Sam Houston State University in 1985. Studies held emphasis in broadcast journalism and public relations.
Purser is actively involved in the Houston community and currently serves on the Boards of the Victory Fund, Texas Cable Association, and the Better Business Bureau. Purser has held Chairmanship positions with Legacy Community Health Services and the Texas Cable Association. He is a graduate of Leadership Houston Class XXVIII.
In recognition for his work in the Community, Purser was awarded the Excellence in Diversity Award by the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications and was selected as an Honoree for the Ivy Education and Charitable Foundation. Comcast’s West Division awarded Purser the Circle of Success Excellence in Inclusion Leadership Award in 2014 for the launch of the region’s Out at Comcast employee resource group. He has been a recipient of seven Cable Television Public Affairs Association Beacon Awards for outstanding work in Public Affairs.
