Repairs Underway After Fiber Lines Cut in North Houston

Ever wonder why it takes time to restore services after fiber lines are cut? There’s a tremendous amount of patience and precision to repair a fiber line. Each individual and tiny glass fiber must be rejoined using a special machine— strand by strand. Here’s a special behind-the-scenes video of technicians working this afternoon.

Update 1 p.m. – Good news, our technicians are making progress. We are starting to see services restored to some customers in the north Houston area after several fiber lines were cut by a third party early this morning. Our technicians are continuing to safely work to repair the remaining fiber lines. Due to the number of impacted fiber lines, all services for all customers are expected to be restored by 8 p.m. Further updates are being provided on this Comcast Houston webpage and Xfinity App for affected customers.

Update 9:30 a.m. — Early this morning, Comcast technicians discovered several fiber lines that had been damaged by a third party at a facility in the north Houston area. At this time, Comcast technicians are working to assess the damage and repair the fiber lines. The service interruption is impacting all services for customers in the Aldine and Greenspoint areas. Further updates are being provided on this Comcast Houston webpage and Xfinity App for affected customers.
