More than 700 students from across the city, converged on the campus of Houston Community College’s West Loop Campus to attend Comcast Techpak; and work with and learn from the best in the STEM industry. Comcast Techpak activities are designed to ignite interest in STEM learning to prepare local youth for careers that are continuously expanding yet have a shortage of candidates. The day’s accomplishments help prepare students to compete globally through analytical thinking and design learning that fosters creativity and innovation.
Students at Comcast Techpak engaged in critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills by taking part in Lego engineering and aviation, coding robotics, app development, and drone operations alongside working professionals from local engineering associations. Students and parents also had the opportunity to learn about Comcast’s Internet Essentials program the largest and most comprehensive broadband adoption program for low-income families in the U.S.
The daylong event was coordinated by the Houston Hispanic Forum, creators of Career & Education Day, and sponsored by Comcast and Webtropolis to ignite interest in STEM learning.
